Although many people think a root canal therapy is a scary experience, it is far from it. Root canals are commonly performed successfully all around the world. During a root canal, your endodontist will access the root canal and pulp of your affected tooth, allowing them to remove any decay, bacteria or infection that may be present, preventing additional complications and the condition from advancing.

Before your root canal treatment, a local anesthetic will be used to reduce any discomfort during your procedure. Next, your endodontist will create a tiny hole in the affected tooth, allowing them to access the tooth’s root canal and pulp properly. Any decay, infection, and bacteria will be gently, yet thoroughly removed from the root canal and then it will be completely sanitized and cleaned. Next, the root canal will be filled and sealed, preventing additional issues.

Following a root canal, a dental crown is recommended to provide additional strength, support, and an improved appearance.
